Nursing Nursing definition is, the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations (American Nursing Association). Becoming a nurse is much more than just giving a shot, or cleaning up after patients. All throughout history nursing has been a job that is always in perceived in the background. When you go into surgery you thank your doctor for saving your life, and for being able to do whatever procedure you needed. But the ones that are there for you throughout your stay are always the nurses. The one who cleans your wounds, the one that comes in every hour to make sure you’re heart rate and blood pressure are within normal range. Nurses have to physically and mentally be able to treat a patient to the best of their abilities. Both the men and women that are in the nursing field have so many responsibilities and duties, and those duties can get over generalized quiet easy. Nursing goes all the way back to medieval times if not further, although they may of not have gone under the name of ‘nurse’. Most of the nursing care done in medieval times way by monks or nuns, under churches.
